2 months agoPera cafe is a Turkish cafe nestled in Kensington Market. Food was pretty much what you expect with what you order. Coffee drinks were okay too. However, the staff is where they shine. Great service and attitude. I would come because the staff are nice. Moreover, the environment is clean and aesthetically pleasing.

4 months agoHalal brunch spot in Kensington that has delicious food and coffee! Usually busy but worth the wait if you're already in the area. However they do have much more space in the summer when they get the patio up and running. Can't really go wrong with anything on their menu!

3 months agoIf you are looking for a true oasis amidst a busy Pedestrian Sunday, Pera Cafe is exactly what you need. It is the perfect spot to step out of the crowd and recharge in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The menu offers excellent options, and I was able to order a beautifully prepared, healthy plate that hit all the right notes. Every component of the dish was very well done, and you could immediately tell they use fresh ingredients. Even though the team looked very busy managing the Sunday rush during my visit, they still maintained a nice, pleasant, and accommodating attitude. If you appreciate fresh, wholesome food and a great atmosphere to unwind, this hidden gem is definitively recommended!

a month agoWe came here for a late brunch and absolutely loved it! The potatoes were cooked so well, the spicy mayo was on point, and we loved our coffees. We would probably get the egg croissant or try a different brunch item next time though. We felt there was a lot of cream cheese on the salmon toast, it wasn’t bad, just not something we typically order, and it didn’t really have us wanting more. Overall though, such a cute spot and we really enjoyed it!

4 months agoWas yummy! I got the smoked salmon plate, and it was perfect, no notes. The hot sauce they give for the potatoes is so good too, I wonder what’s in it. I do see people complaining about portions size and I get why, but more than this I think you’d be too full haha. You pay first and the people working there are nice, there’s a patio as well if you’d like to sit outside! Would love to come back to try the Turkish breakfast too! Thank you for having me :)

a week agoA cute find in the Kensington area. It is advertised as a Turkish brunch, and it does have Turkish platters and beverages, but it looks like it Portuguese-managed and in a Portuguese-like neighbourhood 😀 Food was delicious and perfectly sized, the tea complements the meal well - it's has an intimate bistro feel.

a week agoDelicious food and good quality ingredients with good sized portions. We sat Outside and there was a lot of bees which made it uncomfortable. Seating inside is more limited. Overall nice spot but I’d reccomend sitting inside.

2 weeks agoThe food, drinks, setting, and experience was wonderful, until halfway through I found a course hair in my egg croissant. I didn’t want to have to gross out my kids (and then have to console them and find new breakfast) so I didn’t bring my plate back, but my own meal was immediately ruined by the find. Way too expensive for this kind of experience. I understand I didn’t give them a chance to resolve the situation, hence the middling review. Would’ve been 5 stars otherwise.

2 months agoWe came here because of the stellar Google reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was quite the opposite. The food lacked flavour, and when I asked for any source of lemon, I was told they didn’t have any in the entire kitchen. Overall, the service felt very stiff and unhelpful, and the food itself was extremely basic in terms of flavour and seasoning. Honestly, most of the dishes felt like something you could easily make at home. I also found the restaurant quite expensive for the quality of both the food and service we received. To make matters worse, we saw a dead cockroach in the restaurant, which was obviously very concerning. At the end, we spoke with the owner, who was receptive and took the time to listen to our concerns. He offered us some cookies and explained that they had recently done pest control, which was why some pests may have been coming out. I appreciate how th

2 years agoTried the Avocado toast platter and the grilled cheese, hibiscus tea & watermelon Found an egg shell in the platter, wilted cucumbers and dirty cutlery. The drink was not even full and a lot of it was ice. Avocado toast had 1 slice of bread, 1 egg and everything else was potatoes and salad. Could do so much better but sadly the experience was not good at all. Grilled cheese was great however.

2 years agoI had a very odd experience compared to other reviews. I don’t know if these guys were working overtime or not compensated for their family day work. But there was something in the air. Everyone was unpleasant and angry even with simple questions such as “Is it ok to sit here?” Or exchanging pleasantries such as “thank you”. Me and my friends did not argue or discuss. But the employees here made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. They also seemed very upset when we asked for our ordered Turkish tea (which was not served till later in the meal after asking for it). The food was tasty I cannot deny. But the service made this experience very unpleasant and I would not come back. This place can do a lot better in terms of improving the guest experience, the food and Turkish bagel were good.

2 years agoThe ratings of this place is not accurate at all. We ordered the first Turkish platter on the menu which was supposed to have beef sausage but they didn’t even give a whole slice of sausage but 3-4 circles cut. The bagels they gave wasn’t even a full circle of a bagel. And the picture on the platter menu had fruits but ours didn’t. The servers didn’t even greet us when we entered. Or bring us a glass of water even when she brought our food to the table. The next to us had 3 meals by himself and now I understand why because the portions are too small. We paid 27+ for the platter and even though we shared it, I am sure it’s still not enough for even one person. I was excited to check out this place as they said it’s halal. We did see water bottles on other tables.

2 years agoLet's tackle this review systemically __Food__ We got 2 drinks the house-made lemonade and turkish coffee. Lemonade, my personal preference, did not appeal. I think others could enjoy this taste, but not me. Looks wise, I didn't like the presentation, was expecting some mint leaves and a slice of citrus like the picture, but neither was given despite the $7 price tag. Turkish coffee, tasted like the coffee grinds were still in there. Presentation was nice, but the execution was poor. Was expecting a smooth, strong, clean Turkish taste, but ended up chewing on coffee grinds... 1/5 __Service __ When we went to the counter the cashier was chatting with a friend. She made us (only 2 in line at the time) wait until her conversation naturally ended. It's ok we get it, people have friends these things happen from time to time, but still not the best first impression. Only after the f
