3 months agoThe food is seriously tasty. This is my second time in Tavoos. I do not do "sunny side" eggs and most of their dishes include sunny side -- but I found a dish that suited me and it was delicious.

a month agoCame for brunch with the bf and this spot doesn’t disappoint for Persian brunch. Fresh bread, high quality ingredients. Really kind waitresses and fast service.

6 months agoGreat place for dizi — I really enjoyed it. The dish was flavorful, hearty, and well-prepared. The servers were kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. The dizi is served with barbari bread, which works well, but I do wish they also offered sangak, as it’s the more traditional pairing. Be prepared for a heavy meal if you order dizi, but it’s absolutely worth it.

3 months agoA wonderful introduction to Persian cuisine. We tried the Dizi, the Persian-style Omelette, and the Guisavah, each with unique and balanced flavours. The Guisavah, with eggs, dates, apricots, and walnuts, was unlike anything I’d had before and delicious. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

3 months agoI spent a Sunday morning here with a close friend. He had the mirza ghasemi and I had the abgoosht with torshi, and both were tasty and full of flavor with generous portions. The price is reasonable for the quality and size, the restrooms were clean, and the design is lovely.

2 days agoTakht-e Tavoos specialises in Persian food, particularly weekend breakfast and brunch, giving it a distinctive place among College Street restaurants. One of its notable traditional dishes is dizi, a slow-cooked stew containing lamb, chickpeas, white beans, potato, onion, tomato and spices. The dish is served in a stone pot, with the broth separated first and the remaining meat and legumes mashed into a thicker preparation to eat with flatbread. That makes it a different experience from an ordinary soup or stew, with a traditional eating method that is part of the appeal. The menu also includes mirza ghasemi and Persian flatbread, giving diners another direction beyond the meat-centred dishes. I like this kind of specialist restaurant because it offers a specific regional food tradition rather than a generic breakfast menu.

a month agoMy absolute favorite place in Toronto for Dizi 🔥 the taste of the soup and quality of the meat are amazing. Good service and hospitable serveres. Just keep in mind this restaurant is only open on Saturdays and Sundays!

2 years agoWe used to frequently order brunches from Tavous, but my recent Uber Eats order including Dizi, roasted beef tongue, and halim was disappointing. The Dizi had minimal meat, mostly lamb fat and chickpeas in a mix of tomato paste and water. The serving size was quite small. The halim lacked the authentic shredded lamb or turkey and had an unusual thick layer of oil on top of it. It had an unusual taste, pretty different from the expected authentic flavour. But the worst part of my order, roasted beef tongue! It was undercooked, excessively oily, and emitted a bad smell, ending up dumping it straight into the trash. As a Persian familiar with authentic Persian foods ,I find these dishes to be a humorous imitation of persian foods rather than genuine.

4 years agoNOT RECOMMENDED. - The restaurant, workers' clothes, and even their hands are not clean - Food is served with too much delay - The food quality neither is the best, nor the worst, I can say their food can be scored 40 out of 100 - Apart from the Asian girl working there, the rest are not trained and experienced - Prices are too much and the food and service don't worth it NOTE TO THE OWNER: TRAIN YOUR WAITER

4 years agoWe went there on 8 May 2022. The food was OK but the service was absolutely poor. First, the server didn't give the service that we required (we ask for extra bread and she didn’t take care of that. Then, we asked another server to bring bread to our table). Secondly, we asked to pay the bills separately. The server told that their machine is old and is not able to generate bills on an individual basis. Furthermore, on top of the after-tax money, an additional 18 percent tip was added to the bill that nobody explained to us. Finally, two things were added to our bill that we had not requested (37 dollars). It is absolutely terrible service. That was the first time that I tried this place, but definitely not gonna try again.

2 years agoThis was once a favourite brunch spot of mine that I would rave about and recommend to others. However my last visit was very disappointing, and I went again today to give it another chance. Unfortunately it confirmed that a once excellent place is now a place I will not go back to. I wonder what accounts for such a stark change, whether there has been a change in ownership? The quality of the food was once exceptional, but these last two times the quality has decreased so much. I didn't even bother eating more that a few bites of my dish today as it was flavourless, and the bread was stale. The staff seemed disinterested and did not address this. Most concerning is that we saw one of the staff picking up glasses but putting her fingers inside - which is unhygienic and against basic standards of service and cleanliness. This same staff member was unkempt, which is a bit off-putting as se

a year agoWent to Takhte Tavoos for breakfast and honestly left disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the staff didn’t seem welcoming at all. Our table was carelessly set with 5 glasses stacked on top of each other — not even distributed — just dropped and walked away. When it came to ordering, instead of helping us understand the menu, the focus was all on what wasn’t included and what would cost extra — and it wasn’t communicated in a friendly or helpful way. Portions were small, and to make it worse, the extra bread we asked for came so late that the food was already cold. Food itself was average at best — nothing memorable. The only saving grace was a polite Caucasian girl who genuinely seemed to care. Unfortunately, the two Middle Eastern ladies serving tables seemed disinterested and cold. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Plenty of better Persian breakfast spots in the city.
