My husband and I took our 3 month old baby to the emergency department after his appointment due to severe eczema and met with a very nice triage lady. She even told us to sit away from others to protect our son from any illness. We were than called into the waiting rooms inside the emergency department and were met with a very rude and unenthusiastic girl/lady who called us in that couldn't even hold the door for my son and I and announced, "that door might shut on you." My husband ran back to hold the door so it doesn't hit my son while I was holding him. She then put us in the ugliest, most unkempt room which was room 7, while room 1, 2, 5 and 6 were available during our 2 hour wait inside. Room 7 had what looked like feces and bug splatter on the ceiling, a ripped up waiting chair, was extemely smaller than the other rooms and had no air/ac or natural light. We noticed our son's ecze

We can’t thank enough to Doctors and nurses for their hard work, efforts and love they put into work. We just walked in just for check up and found out from our family doctor that my wife must go to hospital now because she had high blood pressure, when we checked in, she went through many exams and same day we had to go in for c-section operation. My wife and our new baby stayed 4 days in ICU, nurses and doctors well took care of both of them. Same treatment if we done in USA, it wouldn’t be cost less than 400K. Here I pay only 5 days parking which cost $54. Let’s be thankful to have this and appreciate all health care workers. Thank you all and much appreciated Good bless you all

I can’t thank enough the L&D staff and NICU nurses and doctors. They were all amazing! I’ve had the most wonderful experience of giving birth and having my baby taken care by the NICU staff.

My comment is specifically about the hospital’s environment and design. A children’s hospital should feel like a place created with children in mind — a place that brings comfort, hope, and reassurance. Unfortunately, the current design feels very cold and serious. The walls, floors, elevators, and overall surroundings are mostly grey with some red, which does not create the warm and welcoming atmosphere children need. Children who come to this hospital are already dealing with fear, pain, stress, and difficult experiences. The environment around them should help lift their spirits, not add to the heaviness they may already feel. Bright colours, cheerful artwork, drawings on the walls, and playful designs on the floors could make the hospital feel less intimidating and more comforting for children and their families. I gave birth to my son Feb 2026 here and also had my care as of 20 weeks onwards with Dr. Sharma. Overall good experience having a high risk pregnancy, got seen bi weekly throughout the pregnancy and my questions were answered. Gwyneth was super kind and helpful from the endo team, and Rene the LC was super nice too for our daily visits. Alex was a phenomenal nurse for L&D. We had to stay for multiple days afterwards, most of the staff/nurses were a delight. Not super fond of having to split the bathrooms between so many people in both standard and private care rooms, id say that is a down fall. The space for the standard ward rooms is very small.

Very disappointing experience at this hospital. We brought our 2-year-old child at 11:00 PM because we were worried she might have a pulled elbow after falling from the bed. After triage, we were asked to wait in a hallway area after an hour. The rooms nearby were unoccupied, yet we waited there for another two hours. When we asked how much longer it might take, the staff told us we were next and would be seen soon. After waiting another 30 minutes, we checked again, only to be told that they couldn’t provide an exact waiting time, but that the usual wait was around four hours. It was extremely frustrating to be left waiting for so long with a young child who was injured and in pain, especially after being told we would be seen soon. Now it's 4:30 am and not sure when the doctor may come to see and to advise for the next step.

I can not thank the team here enough! Our 2 month old Caylee was brought here from Guelph Emerg. With tremor/seizure type symptoms. It was one of the scariest most emotional nights of our lives. The team here spoke softly and acted so nice to us and Caylee. Really made us feel special and understood. Thank you for your great bedside manors. You all truly belong working with children. Our biggest mistake was trusting the doctors at this hospital. While I know many families have had positive experiences there, I am sharing our horrific reality. At 40 weeks, we lost our healthy, first-born daughter because the doctors we trusted failed to listen. In the final days, I watched my wife repeatedly begged for help. She was in severe pain, burning with fever, struggling to breathe, and vomiting every few minutes. We sat in that waiting area for hours while she suffered. Despite being in clear agony, the staff dismissed it as "fake labor." They gave her Tylenol and Gravol and sent us home over and over, even gave her an injection to stop her labor pain. My wife asked for a C-section multiple times, on her due date and days before—because she knew her body was failing. The doctors refused, telling us to wait until the following week because the technical reports said she was ok

Ive had all four of my kids in this hospital. I get its a medical learning hospital, but the amount of students they bring in is absurd. The food they offer is alot of different options, claiming there singular restaurants. But the food is old and most of it is not even fully edible. Now let's talk prices, $1.52 for 1 single banana. That should tell you everything you need to know about the prices. There out here robbing parents blind, charging 23 dollars for parking for the day and over priced food. So while we're having babies or our kids are sick you can rest assured mac is doing everything it can to take advantage of you while you're there. McMaster Children's hospital you should be ashamed of yourselves, taking advantage of people in there time of need.

Our healthcare in Canada is absolutely terrible!!!!! We waited over 9 hours in a children’s emergency room????? How????? Hire more staff!!!!! Other countries are not struggling like this!!!!! Wake up Canada!!!!!

Took my daughter in for moderate dehydration from battling a bad stomach bug. Wait times said 3-4 hours. After 8 hours I had to give up and leave due to my own physical issues and having other children to be responsible for the next day (waited 11pm to 7am). I understand there are more urgent matters but recieving an IV for fluids could have been a quickly resolved matter or even done while she slept in the waiting room. Not many other options for children but I guess were on our own to figure it out ?

Terrible experience, outdated system. Was diagnosed with scoliosis and Dr. Kishta did not measure with Cobb angle, each time I went it was a different measurement. I was not able to understand the staff half of them did not speak English, and all they were saying was I need surgery, a spinal fusion which is very serious, when I got a second option they measured it correctly and told me I did not need surgery. That is ridiculous. I recommend going elsewhere.

Eye rolls, piercing your lips and being rude isn't the way to deal with people.
