This restaurant had been recommended to us by several people, and I had also heard very good things about the owner and the restaurant. We had previously visited their other restaurant, Shomal, and had a great experience there as well. The food at Gilaneh was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and high quality, and the service was also very professional and attentive. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was quite cold, and I really felt it. I ended up ordering a hot soup, which definitely helped warm me up! If the dining area were kept a little warmer, the experience would be even more enjoyable. Overall, we were very happy with the food quality, ingredients, and service. Definitely a place worth trying.

Gilaneh offers a mixed but overall decent Persian dining experience in Toronto. The appetizers are the highlight, both the bademjoon kabob and mast boorani pair beautifully with the freshly baked bread and are a great way to start the meal. Unfortunately, the baghaleh ghatogh was underwhelming, lacking flavour and overly watery. Among the mains, the kabob torsh stood out as well-seasoned and perfectly cooked, while the chenjeh was juicy and tender but noticeably under-salted. The koobide was acceptable but slightly dry, and the rice did not taste fresh. Service was friendly but could be more attentive. One disappointing note was seeing a staff member’s friend casually present with a pet dog in the restaurant, which is not appropriate for a dining environment. Overall, a solid spot with clear strengths, but also room for improvement.

I think the space at Gilaneh is unmatched. It’s so beautiful, and the service is really good. They have so many selections, plus fantastic soup and bread. But I’m so sorry, the kebab and joojeh were SO dry T-T. Hopefully they’ll improve it soon because I really love the atmosphere and the view at this spot!

Gilaneh Restaurant has a very nice and cozy atmosphere. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food, especially the appetizers. Our server, Ariyaz, was very friendly, polite, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh-baked bread — it truly made my day. Before we left, they even gave us some bread to take home, which was such a thoughtful and generous gesture. The only thing I think could be improved was the taste of the Kabab Koobideh as a main dish. I wish it had been a bit more flavorful. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, and I would definitely visit again.

There are many good Persian restaurants in Toronto. However one that you can easily go and likely get to sit imminently is Gilaneh. Service is very good and amazing selection of Persian food.

Chicken was ok , gheimeh , I am sure you can find much better quality on other places , but Koobideh was really bad , salty and spicy .

But the toilets weren't very clean.

The owner of Paryan restaurant recommended this restaurant to us. We came all the way from Newmarket. And what an amazing recommendation. Amazing food.

Disappointing Experience at Gilaneh Unfortunately, Gilaneh fell well short of expectations. The food quality was disappointing, lacking the standard of flavour and overall quality one would expect from a restaurant of its calibre. What made the experience even more frustrating was the apparent rationing of complimentary bread- a basic persian gesture of hospitality that should enhance the dining experience, not leave guests feeling as though they are asking for too much. A restaurant experience is about more than simply serving food; it is about quality, generosity, service, and making guests feel genuinely welcome. Sadly, Gilaneh missed the mark on these fundamentals. For the price and expectations, the experience simply was not worth it. There are plenty of restaurants that deliver better quality and a far more welcoming dining experience. I would not return, nor would I recommend

We booked a table for 17 people a week in advance. They confirmed the reservation and then a couple days after, called and asked for a $200 deposit. The reservation was at 8:00 pm and at 8:15 pm, half of the guest were not seated because the table was not ready! The waitress was rude and instead of apologizing about the delay, she was being annoyed and saying the previous guests were late and some other nonsense excuses. When we paid $200 for a reservation, we expected the table to be reserved for us! Ordering the food was a process! We had to repeat ourselves multiple times and about 30 mins after ordering, the waitress came to us and said : The Golbarg kabob is finished. You need to choose something else. Tell me if I'm wrong but the restaurant should keep track of the inventory and let the customer know if someone is not in stock when taking orders or at least right after. Not 30 mins

We came without a reservation and gave them our phone number. They said they would call within 30 minutes, but after 45 minutes we found out they had simply forgotten. After being seated and ordering, we waited two hours for our food. When we asked about the delay, there was no apology—just an explanation that another dining area was busy. Very disappointing service. The staff seemed inexperienced, communication was poor, and the management was weak. A restaurant should be able to manage busy periods much better.

I had a house full of guests today and I am super disappointed with the quality. Here is a picture of their $20 walnut olives that had maximum of 4 olives in it.

Bad experience! I live overseas. During the pandemic, i was sending food to my family via UberEats here in Toronto and i chanced upon this Mediterranean restaurant. They loved the food and they would always request to order here. Many many times i ordered for them. Today, i had a chance to visit Gilaneh and i was so excited. We chose the table by the glass window, in a matter of seconds this girl approached us and in an annoyed-upset tone she told us we chose the table for 6 and there’s just 3 of us… keeping the 3 cutlery sets. I looked at these two gentlemen dining comfortably in the same 6-seat table with all their stuff occupying the chairs. IT WAS THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE DAY - NOT TO MENTION WE JUST CAME FROM A FUNERAL. Everything else was ruined because of her. She does not deserve to work here with this kind of attitude 👎🏻👎🏻

I ordered Kabab Torsh and Vaziri (with a salad) by Uber Eats from this restaurant (paid 125$) the food arrived cold which was not a big issue, figured out the quality of the food was not after 2 3 bites, called the restaurant, the manager was asking to send the food back for a refund! I should have checked the rating and other reviews before ordering, not so recommended!

Beautiful place Good quality of foods Good staff and service

Gheimeh I ordered was too watery and salty, with 3 small chunks of beef in it.

Food was delicious, atmosphere was great, medium size place, and very pricey.
