2 months agoPomegranate has never let us down. The stews are incredible, and we like the somewhat rotating menu. The appetizers are great too. We usually split things so we can try more. Recommend the fesenjaan highly! As well as the mirza qasemi, aloo gheysi, and kashk-e bademjoon. The doogh is an acquired taste but we love it with the flavours the restaurant has. Service is always knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere is cozy.

7 months agoPomegranate Restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that really gives you the feel of a traditional Iranian dining experience. The staff were friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was decent, though I expected a bit more in terms of depth and richness. I tried the Boz Ghormeh—served with lamb, kashk, and eggplant. It was good, but I personally prefer it more thick (ghaliz) and more intense in flavor. The tahdig was a highlight—crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious. The baklava was also well done and a nice way to finish the meal. Overall, a pleasant experience. I’d come back again to give it another try next time, I’m definitely going for the Fesenjoon.

2 months agoOne of the tastiest Persian meals I had in Toronto! The restaurant is beautiful, and the food presentation was lovely. The appetizers were fresh and delicious, and for our main dishes, we ordered two different stews, both were absolutely delicious! Their traditional saffron ice cream is also a must-try! I loved this restaurant and honestly wish it were closer to home so I could go there more often. Definitely one of my favorite Persian food experiences in Toronto!

5 months agoAn absolute masterpiece of culinary depth and cultural preservation. In a city where Middle Eastern cuisine is too often reduced to generic, mass-produced commercial shawarma wraps, this kitchen serves as a proud, aromatic sanctuary for real Persian gastronomy. The space is warm, intimate & richly layered with genuine, unpretentious hospitality. I ordered the Fesenjan - a magnificent walnut and pomegranate stew - and the lamb koobideh & the execution was flawless. The balance between the tart acidity of the pomegranate molasses, the rich earthiness of the nuts & the delicate hint of saffron in the basmati rice was pure perfection. You can immediately taste the hours of patient simmering and the generational pride behind every single dish. Drinking their cardamom and rosewater tea here feels like a sacred ritual to end the meal. An incredible, soul-warming treasure that honors its heritag

6 months agoThe food was the best we’ve had in Toronto. The Shirin Polo had saffron basmati with slivered orange peel and pistachios almonds and dried barberries. It was the most addictive rice ever. We also got the Boz Qormeh which had some amazing lamb chunks in a super flavorful sauce. The saffron rose water ice cream was insane, would definitely recommend. The owners were super friendly and the waiters were very helpful in recommending dishes. I would go out of my way to eat at this gem.

2 days agoShared two entrees with a friend and shared a pom sangria. We were satiated and the food was so good. Place was a tad warm but I guess it adds to the coziness factor. I'd recommend

Edited a week agoThe good: The ambience isn't bad. The bad: Portions are small. We ordered apps (which were two dips, one yoghurt based and one made of green olives). While the dips were flavourful, they give you a small basket of bread pieces and you have to order more because the portion of the dips is not proportional to the small amount of bread you get. Also, the owner/host is standoffish and not welcoming and warm. It shows on her facial expressions that she's not dedicated to providing an amazing experience to her patrons. She looks cold, boring, still, and indifferent. The mains were okay, nothing special. I ordered a chicken dish and it didn't exactly wow me. My friend orders a lamb Shank dish and he said it wasn't flavorful and was bland. We had to wait quite a bit after we were done the appetizers to order the mains because the server said she had to get the "main server" to take our order

6 months agoMy experience at Anar’s was extremely disappointing. We were celebrating a special occasion, and I truly hoped for a memorable evening, but both the service and the food fell far short. Because two of our guests didn’t arrive, we were asked to move tables after already being seated. While I understand the policy, the way it was communicated felt abrupt and inconsiderate. When we asked for a different table, we were told we couldn’t switch unless we are sure that our guests won't arrive, which made the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. The pom sangria, which we had heard great things about, tasted nothing like pomegranate. When my partner’s water spilled due to the cramped table, no one offered to help clean it, and his glass was never refilled. The food was equally underwhelming. My Jujuni tasted like a thin, watery stew with very little flavor, and the lamb in the Shirin Polo ha

a year agoWhat should I say 🤔. The location is good, the atmosphere, and authentic music is good as well. The food is just OK. The service: they refused to split our bill ( group of 6). Is it a Joke? Are you a restaurant or What? The 18 % tip was already included. So clients should pay 18% for service, calculating their bills by themselves? It's ridiculous. The evening was ruined.

9 months agoMy friend and I were walking to our favorite dessert spot (Little Pebbles) when we noticed this restaurant — it had a really cute Persian-style vibe, so we decided to stop in and order dessert here instead. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty, we were refused service because they said we had to order food in order to be allowed to have dessert. We explained that we had already eaten elsewhere and just wanted to enjoy dessert, but the staff were dismissive and their attitude felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. We loved the ambiance and really wanted to support the place, but the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Restaurants should value hospitality and customer experience — especially when there are plenty of empty tables. Very disappointing overall. I hope management reconsiders this policy and the way g

2 years agoI have no idea how this place got 4.4 rating. Most pathetic food I’ve ever eaten. We ordered 2 dishes via Uber eats and the quality of the food was so below average. Adas polo + braised lamb shank was stinking so bad and Kask-e Bademjoon + Barbary flatbread was undercooked. My tummy started to ache after eating that. Worst food on earth. Wouldn’t recommend me going here ever.

Edited 2 years agoI visited this restaurant recently, and the atmosphere was incredibly nostalgic and authentically Iranian. However, I was disappointed with the limited quantity and unimpressive taste of the food. Contrary to expectations, the service was very disorganized and unprofessional.😔

9 months agoThe atmosphere is great and the Persian food is solid with generous portions, especially if you’re not Persian. We had Kashk-e Bademjan to start, Shirin Polo and Qaliye Qajar for mains, and Bastani Akbar Mashti for dessert. Everything hit the spot. Would definitely go back

This is authentic Persian rice styled food (not BBQ/grilled kebab type).
